Startup Palestine Community Global Launch Event

Ramallah, and virtually — The much-anticipated launch event of the Startup Palestine Community took place on January 17th, 2024, with an inspiring turnout of 193 attendees participating in-person in Ramallah and virtually from around the world.

Birth of a Community

Since October 7th, Palestinian startups have faced unprecedented challenges, including staff losses in Gaza, declined sales, lost clients, and diminished morale. The economic impact of Israel withholding tax revenue from the Palestinian Authority has been substantial, leading to a surge in unemployment and a monthly loss of $1.2 billion in income.

In response to these adversities, the Palestinian entrepreneurship ecosystem united to launch Startup Palestine Community, a global initiative committed to supporting Palestinian accelerate their recovery and boost scalability, with the ultimate focus being on transforming the current economic landscape and building a more resilient community.

Reality Check

70% of entrepreneurs have lost at least 25% of their revenues

65% of startups at risk of closure in less than three months

75% are facing difficulty in obtaining funding

With these facts in mind, the key focus now is to help Palestinian startups survive and overcome the difficult situation they are going through and grow their impact in Palestine.

How does The Community help startups?

We surveyed startups in Palestine, listened to their needs, and came up with quick response to their immediate needs. We’re currently focusing on supporting startups through:

1. Expertise on Navigating Uncertainty: coaching startup founders and entrepreneurs to help them take their startup to the next level.
2. Introductions and Collaborations: Facilitating connections to explore ways to support each other and grow bigger, together!
3. Volunteering opportunities: here we contribute our efforts and skills in building the community through projects on web development, content creation, & social media management.
4. Funding Opportunities: Connecting startups with potential investors and funding sources.
5. And much more are in the making!
