It starts with education...
“Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future, and renders the present inaccessible.†--Maya Angelou
The Black Lives Matter movement has been a painful reminder of the veracity of this powerful quote from Maya Angelou.
At Xaxis, diversity and inclusion are very important to us and I am proud to work with a leadership team that actively seeks to contribute to progress on these fronts.
To that end, our global talent team (Jo Connolly, Jo Davey, & Laura Probert) have focused for a while on creating informative online training materials for all our employees. But we would love to be able to contribute to a more equitable future for all under-represented groups in the workplace, not just those within Xaxis. This is why we have decided to make all the diversity and inclusion training modules we use for internal professional development publicly available on our website, modules that cover a wide array of D&I topics ranging from Black Lives Matter to neurodiversity, from unconscious bias to masculinity in the workplace.
We know our work is not perfect and that by making this material public we are also exposing ourselves to the type of cynicism and easy critics which seem to be all too prevalent online these days, but we feel that it is a risk worth taking as we truly hope that our modest efforts will help other organizations and people, who like us at Xaxis, strive to be better informed and educated.
So, please have a look and put these online training resources to good use for you as an individual or even better, share them with your team/manager/CEO.
To keep this as useful and fresh as possible, we also created a way for you to give us constructive feedback and recommendations and, if you have materials that we lack, the team would be grateful to receive them for consideration.
Change is possible and crucial for our collective future.
We can make it happen.
Together.
