There is life after Madrid! We have proven this to be true, as I started my year as the new President of LESI. We are organizing the new LESI board, working with new and fresh committees, and already working full speed on many of the targets for this year.
Once more – big thanks to the Madrid team for a great Annual Meeting. Further, kudos to YMC for starting their society year with a 200+ participants webinar on Trade Secrets. Kudos also to the High-Growth Technology Business (HTB) committee for their LESI & EPO webinar on Digital Innovations. And lastly, kudos to the LES Italy, LES France and LES Germany societies for their joint event “UPC After a Year.” This society year definitely started with a blast, with high visibility and high engagement!
Some 30 years ago, you needed to be a member of a professional organization to get access to information. Now all the information is available, but it has become just noise. Some 15 years ago, you needed to be a member of a professional organization to get connected to other experts. Now, almost everyone is accessible through social media, but these connections are mostly not meaningful.
This is why professional organizations like LESI are needed. To sort out the important from the noise and to connect people in a meaningful way. Our last Annual Conference is a great example of providing real knowledge, ideas and sharing, and connecting us as professionals and as people.
This is what LESI stands for. Our newly adopted Mission boldly states that we exist to enable a global, collaborative and generous community. This is deeply written to our DNA. We are not a pay-to-play organization but a community with a purpose. Our newly adopted Vision sets the target high: LESI is the go-to global community that connects people: local to global, industries and expertise, creativity and innovation. Together we create opportunities.
All this means we will turn the noise into an inspiring melody and the names and faces to meaningful friendships. This is our purpose, what we are, and what we aim to be.
Now it is time to put the Vision and Mission into action! All committees as well as our national and regional societies are asked to work on our Vision and Mission and translate what it means to them.
Following the Vision and Mission, we have our organization’s strategic goals. To be able to achieve our Vision of being the go-to global community for professionals, connecting people and creating opportunities, we need to make this really happen. We need to maintain our position as the most industry friendly and IP commercialization professional community: we need to grow, we need to be visible, and we need to fulfill our promise. Our priorities follow the same idea: we will raise our visibility to take and maintain our position as the go-to community, we will activate and engage our members, committees, industries and stakeholders to create the opportunities we promise, and finally we will sustain the organization to grow and provide for in the future.
These will be the priorities for the year 2024-2025:
I am asking all the committees, as well as all national and regional societies to consider these priorities and again translate them into action for this year! As your servant President, I will be fully committed to help and so is the LESI Board, our Executive Director Dana Colarulli and our office personnel. Let’s make this a great year together!
