Starting next month: Action Learning for Racial Equity

We are thrilled to be able to offer this new programme starting next month - open to anyone from the housing sector working at 'head of' level or above.

We hear frequently from leaders who want to drive change in their organisations, and become actively anti-racist, but are afraid of saying the wrong thing, or do not have space to properly discuss these issues internally. We wanted to give those people a small-group setting, professionally facilitated, to have those conversations together with a collective view of advancing racial equity in their organisations and housing sector.

Many of you have probably at least heard of, if not participated in, an Action Learning Set (ALS) at some point. A standard ALS involves a small group of people working on tackling real problems they or their organisation are facing, through a process of asking clarifying questions, identifying possible solutions, then taking action.

Action Learning for Racial Equity takes the ALS concept a step further - adding a 'critically reflective' element. This means participants are asked to not only use it as a tool for performance improvement, but to see it as something that can be transformative by considering how structural and systemic inequalities show up in their organisations and the sector.

Expert coaches Charmaine and Angie from LifeFlowBalance will hold space for the group to explore how they think, feel, and act, including the 'why' - often uncomfortable, but vital in order to recognise how our life experience, perspective and personal values, along with biases and assumptions, all affect how we make decisions at work.

The group will consider different stakeholder views, experiment together, and work to identify and change behaviours, policies and practices to help create a more inclusive and social justice-oriented culture in your organisations. There are a maximum of eight places on this programme, and we very much welcome more than one participant from each organisation.

For more information or to book your place, please email [email protected] or comment here. Please do share with anyone you think may be interested or would benefit from the programme.
