Starting to Expose the Truth

Starting to Expose the Truth

Response to Megyn Kelly

Megyn Kelly did a good job bringing a spotlight to the rehab epidemic in southern Florida.  This morning it was refreshing to see the comments of shock and horror on Facebook, as awareness has been badly needed. What I found interesting and sadly expected, was how my Linkedin feed was so diametrically opposed. Many seemed overly angry that the “good” rehabs were not mentioned and that this will only keep people from sending their loved ones to Florida. I understand how the therapists that have dedicated their lives to helping others would be upset that this has happened. On the other hand, many of you have watched this happen and not made a sound. I have yet to meet anyone else that has gone public as a whistle blower, while many are well very much aware of what’s happening. All employees see that their clients are transported in from various sober homes for IOP, and there is almost always some type of relationship between rehabs and specific sober homes. I personally was “patient brokered” to several sober homes in southern CA, and my parents were always under the impression I was in a place to heal. The morning I woke up in my first “Sober Home” was the first time I had ever even seen heroin. Thankfully, I never used heroin but that same house had a manager that was arrested for dealing crystal meth.  My last rehab (as a client) told me I could go to only one of two sober homes, or I would not be allowed to attend their IOP. Gratefully, this was an ethical facility, even if I disagreed with limited choices. In the end; I just really needed a good surgeon, but that’s a much longer story!

I have written multiple articles/posts on the subject matter and the comments have been slim to none. I’ve also been a vocal critic of price gouging and false advertising at some of even the most established rehabs. The data analytics show some being read over 2000 times, and even one article that challenged them to debate me. I’m not referring to just the ones breaking laws, but the industry in its entirety. I understand some people are deeply passionate about AA, and they seem to think that I’m criticizing the program. AA 12 steps are a good way for anyone to lead life, but it’s free and works for a small percentage of today’s addict.

On September 11th 2014, I filed an official police report of fraud and patient brokering. Still, today a rehab CEO and a rogue doctor are operating with impunity. What they failed to mention in last night’s story was the actual size of this issue. I was deposed this past March, but what they don’t tell you in this story:

-The task force has an annual budget of only $300,000 and show no interest in growing

-Have made 29 arrests, but only one owner and only one doctor

-The solution they think will solve the matter is HB807/SB788, they’re positive moves but don’t go far    enough.

-Florida simply will not admit the size and scope of the fraud, co-existing labs, fake marketing, referral services, certification schools, and a dangerously popular problem of “Rubber Stamp” doctors.

Since I’ve been public on the matter, I have done everything I can to warn people of these criminals. I’ve been slandered, bribed, lost friends, and even had one attorney attempt to scare me into to being quiet. I’ve watched too many die as others get rich, and writing these articles will hopefully make people aware. I have a painfully earned experience as someone that has been a client of multiple “good” rehabs but I’ve also seen the worst. I have the ability to get very specific on each of these subject matters, from 6 years as an employee of a sober home and residential rehab. Awareness is key, so please feel free to share away!

Ryan, A wealthy rehab owner accused of fraud about 10 years ago just opened an outpatient on my small main street and I predict he will open sober houses to feed his out pat as he has done with all the others. How can I investigage how well his sober houses are run?

I very rarely respond to viewpoints on LinkedIn however I agree here. I also agree that nobody wants to be a whistleblower. Me on the other hand I love outing people who are helping to kill a generation. I don't know where you're located but there is a conference coming up at the diplomat Hotel in Fort Lauderdale from June 12 through the 14th. I have assembled a panel of like-minded individuals to discuss issues related to what Megan Kelly highlighted in her news piece. If attending this conference conference is something you're interested in text me privately and I will arrange for you to attend as my guest and a guest of retreat premier addiction treatment centers. I appreciate your views and the courage to stand up and be heard on this topic.
