Started from the bottom, now we're here!?? Ep. 290 w/Ryan Blair

Episode 290 of the #whoyaknow show invited Ryan Blair, a #1 New York Times bestselling author, serial entrepreneur, and self-made millionaire.

He is the former co-founder and chief executive officer of the multi-level marketing company ViSalus, which sold for $792 million in 2012.

Blair is now the founder of his latest company AlterCall.?

In the episode, Ryan talks about his childhood and growing up. He was born in a middle-class family to a dad who was an engineer and a homemaker mother. Their childhood days were good, but gradually the family disintegrated as drug addiction took over.?

Due to the drug addiction, they lost everything. The middle-class environment was ripped away from him. As a young child, Ryan saw a sheltered environment turn into a destructive, violent environment which led him to turn to the streets.?

Ryan says that his grandmother had a really strong influence on his life. She taught him to be spiritual. Ryan recalls heading to prison by the age of 17 for robbery. But he prayed. He persuaded a judge by writing him a letter begging for leniency. Ryan got leniency, and his faith got renewed. Then by God's grace, a mentor came into his life, and from there, he went on his way to college and entrepreneurship.

Ryan's first mentor, a real estate entrepreneur, gave him a job. He gave him the wisdom that would make him rich. During this time, Ryan got to see the business world from the inside out. Ryan opened up and became hungry for other mentors.

On asking how he got back to his faith, Ryan says that he had prayed many times in his life but failed to realize the presence of the creator. His life changed when his mother passed away. He did a life review and saw that all his prayers had been answered. He saw the grace that God had given him.?

Talking about his book Nothing To Lose, Everything To Gain, it was inspired by an interview he did. He speaks about the mindset of not caring what the other people were doing and what the competition was because he had nothing to lose.?

Ryan speaks about the challenges of scaling a business as an entrepreneur. "As an entrepreneur, you run into challenges every single day. You are solving one problem in the marketplace. But it's one problem after another. You have to get good, look into the negative and turn into positive, and learn from the negative."

Talking about his latest company AlterCall, Ryan says that he has experienced a few alter calls that were life-changing in the spiritual sense. Through AlterCall, he takes entrepreneurs and executives through a process that removes things that are blocking them so that they can shine more in their lives. Ryan's mission is to have thousands of businesses powered by AlterCall that are doing better in the community and solving problems.?

Ryan also shares his insights on breathwork. According to him, breathwork opens you up. As you breathe, you release some of the pains and traumas that you're storing. Ryan also emphasizes the fact that energy equals time and time equals money.?

While talking about how to regain focus in a world that is so busy, Ryan says that there are thousands of scientists behind every social media platform trying to steal your attention. You fight back through a thing called 'restriction.' Restriction stops not only the things that distract you but also the things that steal your energy. It is the gateway to execution.?

When asked about how he would start all over again, Ryan says that he would have known that God is by his side. He would believe that he has a dad of all dads. Ryan also says that what he knows is a small fraction of what he has obtained, but who he knows is all that he has obtained. Watch the Ep. 290 and subscribe on YouTube below.
