To be a great leader you've got to start somewhere.
And after almost 20 years of studying personal development, self-enrichment, self-mastery, and leadership, my advice would be start with yourself. If you want to be a great leader, organizational, inspirational, or even just a community leader, or even just a family leader, start with yourself.
Here's why, can you truly lead someone else to be the best version of themselves if you can't do yourself the same favour, if you can't give yourself the same gift, you cannot give anyone what you don't have.
And people buy people. So if you're trying to lead someone in a direction that you haven't yet gone or been, people can see, and already now you take away your ability to lead them in the best way possible, because now maybe they don't trust you. If we look above trust, if you want to lead others in the right direction, trust is number one, but higher than that is inspiration.
When you lead people from an inspirational place, you inspire life into them. In my opinion, the highest form of leadership or the most powerful form of leadership even in an organization is to be an inspirational leader, and for you to be an inspirational leader, you have to be inspirational. You have to be inspiring, and there is nothing inspirational about not being able to lead yourself.
So, you want to be the greatest leader that you can possibly be to whoever it is that you want to lead? “start with you”. That's where it begins.
Life mastery is an inside out game.
