Start your own newsletter, they say

Well, here goes nothing.

At the dawn of the age of Aquarius, on a medium I never thought I would use, I am here, on linked in starting a newsletter on writing.

I don't know what I will say or if people will actually read this.

I have mixed feelings about committing to putting out more "content" and mild butterflies at the notion that my random musings may actually be read, judged, liked or disliked

So here I am, waiting for my chicken drumsticks to be done and writing this first post.

I guess we all have to start somewhere.

Well, let's throw this sapling in the ground and see if it takes.

My name is Alexandra and I am a writer. I founded the San Francisco Creative Institute. Before that I was a college professor for ten years.

I am a dreamer in a city of dreamers.

I keep company with artists, little kids, poets and other unrealistic people. I've been a teacher for 20 years. I teach people how to go deep in their work, how to find the part of them that's eternal in writing and elongate it like a long flame. I can teach you too.

I'm not sure what voice to use for linked in because this space always makes me feel like everyone is such an expert on everything and really that really deep down I am a fraud.

But Friday night is a time for chicken drumsticks and being brave I guess.

Thank you for reading. I hope to keep this newsletter going. I hope you enjoy my posts. They will be related to writing and all of its struggles. Sometimes I may crosspost on medium.

Cheers to all of our New Years resolutions that we've kept so far and to the ones we've broken already.

Timer went ding. The end.

Hi Alexandra, really nice to hear from you. Please do continue writing on LinkedIn! When you say you've been teaching for 20 years, I feel so happy. Don't know if you recall but I think we met at a poetry reading about twenty years ago... in 2002 or so? I was hosting a series of Natl Poetry Month projects with an assist from Barry Spacks in Santa Barbara and I think it was the one where I recited Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock. Do you recall?

Yummy. Linked In is a good forum. Keep showing up.

Linked in is a bit of a limited venue... might just start yer own email list.
