Start-up hacks for aspiring entrepreneurs
We’ve scoured the success - and fail - stories of many a start-up, and found a few common themes. Here is our selection of ‘hacks’ for building a successful start-up.
Be prepared
Do your research and understand what you're getting yourself into. Unfortunately, it's very possible that if you don't really know what you are doing, people will take advantage of you. Don't be afraid to negotiate or even walk away from an opportunity that you don't think is right for you.
Don't sweat the small stuff
A major reason start-ups fail is because they get discouraged if (or when) they don't succeed straight away. A major advantage on starting small is that when you have limited resources, you are forced to be creative about the way you have to make things work. Channel those creative juices into your business!
Do what you love, and love what you do
Don't forget about what inspired you to take the plunge into entrepenurship in the first place. At least at the beginning, people will be just as interested in you and your personal brand.
Speak to your customers
Constantly ask for feedback to help your business grow and ensure that you are reaching your target market.
Get a life!
Don't forget to look after Number One. It sounds obvious, but keeping a regular schedule, getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising and spending time with friends and family make for a much happier start-up owner. And a happier start-up owner is a productive start-up owner!
