Start of Summer

Start of Summer, the seventh solar term in the 24 solar terms, the first solar term of summer, the festival time in the Gregorian calendar May 05-07. The handle of the Big Dipper now points southeast, and the sun reaches 45° longitude. Almanac: "Dou refers to the southeast, dimension for the Lixia, all things grow up here, so the name Lixia also." After the start of summer, sunshine increases, gradually heating up and thunderstorms increase. Start of Summer is an important solar term marking the beginning of peak season. At the beginning of summer, everything flourishes.
