Start Stocking Your Spice Cabinet

Start Stocking Your Spice Cabinet

You might have heard about my upcoming Masterclass, Natural Healing At Home. I can't wait for the masterclass to launch, and for you to have access to all the incredible experts and information. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be sharing all about the powerful healing benefits of herbs and spices. There is so much you can do with herbs and spices to facilitate healing - right in your own home.

Your challenge this week is to start stocking your spice cabinet. Of course, fresh herbs are wonderful, but you also want to make sure that you have good quality dried organic herbs and spices on hand. Here are some that I recommend you have in your kitchen. These are “polycrest” herbs - those with a wide variety of useful effects.

nettle (Urtica dioica)

dandelion (Taraxacum off.)

plantain (Plantago major, P. lanceolata)

burdock (Arctium lappa)

mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)

st john's wort (Hypericum perforatum)

tulsi (Ocimum sanctum)

skullcap (Scutellaria lateriflora)

red clover (Trifolium pratense)

hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa)

elder (Sambucus nigra)

linden (Tilia europaea, T. cordata)

pine (Pinus strobus, P. spp.)

calendula (Calendula officinalis)

sage (Salvia officinalis)

rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

thyme (Thymus vulgaris)

oregano (Origanum vulgare)

garlic (Allium sativum)

ginger (Zingiber officinalis)

turmeric (Curcuma longa)

cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia, C. verum)

hawthorn (Crataegus spp.)

chamomile (Matricaria recutita)

catnip (Nepeta cataria)

fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)

peppermint (Mentha piperita)

marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)

lemon balm (Melissa officinalis schisandra Schisandra chinensis)

You can make a tea out of any of these using 2-4 tablespoons of herbs per quart of water. You can drink a quart or so per day of the tea. You can also work with them in multiple other formats (tinctures, powder, etc). I'll be sharing more about the healing power of herbs, and how to use them, in my upcoming Natural Healing at Home Masterclass.
