I'll be frank, I'm pissed off. It’s 2023, and gender inequality continues to be a significant issue.?
When I was younger, I believed that your effort determined opportunities and career advancement. However, as time passed, I witnessed and experienced how women are unfairly impacted and restricted in the workplace.
After helping Christina Graham host a women's event, it dawned on us that women in creative companies are often at the sharp end of gender disparities, mainly due to the competitive culture of the industry(s). And so, UpliftHER, our private women's community,?was born.
In just two months, we have welcomed over 200 women to our community, and thanks to our partnership with ELMNTL , we are thrilled to announce our first exclusive London event in July (check out the details below!) Our group stands out for a reason. Not only do we provide a safe space for women to connect, but we actively work toward changing workplace narratives by developing practical tools and encouraging open conversations to support women in their career development.
UpliftHER is a private group to protect the interests of our members, and we would love you to join us.
Request to join here.
But mentoring could uplift us all.
There is strong evidence to show that mentoring is one of the top strategies to help close the pronounced gender gap and empower women to reach their potential. However, despite good intentions, most organisations are falling short. This is why we are creating our own mentoring and coaching programs and are dedicated to collaborating with individuals and companies to ensure mentoring is both effective and accessible.?

Me Moments
I haven’t met many people who are great at career development, especially women. That’s why we want to encourage as many women as possible with their career journey. We know it can feel overwhelming, which is why we are making it easier and more digestible.
In our group, each week we share something called 'Uplift Me Moments'. These are questions designed to make you reflect. We believe that investing just 5 minutes a week in this activity can help build personal development, self-confidence and career progression.
Mental health awareness month.
With people in creative industries being 3 times more likely to experience mental health and well-being issues, we spent a week shining a light on common but incredibly damaging behaviours.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recently classified burnout as an ‘occupation phenomenon’. Contradictory to this, many companies celebrate and glorify so-called grit, self-reliance, and resilience. Unfortunately, when companies have poor practices and culture, women are more likely to be disproportionally impacted.
So, what's next?

1 年I was at an event last week and according to the Reykjavik Leadership Index, women are NOT good at supporting other women in business, so the more initiatives that promotes this the better - come on women! #leadingchange
