Start Small, Build Steadiness, Create Power

Start Small, Build Steadiness, Create Power

In a world that glorifies overnight success and constant hustle, we've lost sight of a fundamental truth: true achievement is a by-product of steady progress.

?? The Myth of “Having It All”: We live in a world where one is told to ‘go for it’, ‘conquer his/her ambitions’, and ‘dial-up life’ 10X. Such a mentality results in burnout, rejection of an endeavour or project, and abandonment of our aspirations.

?? The Power of Starting Small: Instead of trying to conquer the world in a day, let's focus on conquering one small task. By celebrating these micro-victories, we:

  1. Build confidence
  2. Create positive habits
  3. Generate momentum

?? The Flywheel Effect: Each small win acts as a push to our personal flywheel. As Jim Collins noted in "Good to Great," the flywheel effect means that consistent small pushes eventually lead to breakthrough moments.

??? Building Momentum: Small wins accumulate’. That daily 10-minute workout becomes a lifestyle change. That one extra sales call becomes a thriving client base. Those 30 minutes of reading become expertise in your chosen subject.

?? The Next Win Mindset: Instead of fixating on distant, daunting goals, focus on the next achievable win. Ask yourself: "What is the least I can do today that puts me on the right path?”

?? The Strength in Steadiness: Consistency trumps intensity. A steady approach allows for:

  • Sustainable progress
  • Deeper learning and integration
  • Resilience in the face of setbacks

?? Key Takeaway: Success isn't about dramatic transformations or radical changes. It is always steady, it is recurring, and it is strong. Start small, celebrate progress, and let the compound effect work its magic.

Great post José Carlos! I would add that many times we don’t have the whole picture clear either (even if we believe we have it) because other external factors would determine our big project. Maintaining a good rhythm with small steps keeps us on track and on active waiting. I will keep working on organizing my house after the moving today… I will not be done this night, but I finding the right space for some books today, thanks for the inspiration!
