Are you a small business owner procrastinating on creating videos for your brand?
It's time to stop putting it off and bring that video idea to life. If you don’t start now, someone else might steal that idea.
Creating videos may seem overwhelming, but don't worry. I have 3 tips to help you get started and overcome the hurdles of video creation.
Tip 1: Set a deadline
As cliché as it sounds, setting a deadline for your video posting is the catalyst to get you started.
Set a realistic deadline, and don’t be too ambitious about it — you want to be motivated not discouraged.
It can be as simple as "I need to record a product demo video by next Friday" or "I want to have my shooting equipment ready by Wednesday." even if it's using your phone, your iPad or your camera that you already have.
Tip 2: Eliminate distractions
Set your phone to ‘do not disturb’ mode to avoid checking notifications. Put a screen time limit on your phone, in case you overuse social media platforms (can’t lie I’ve been there too!)
Personally, I have a dedicated corner where my tripod, camera, microphone, and lighting are permanently set up. This allows me to simply walk in and start creating without the hassle of setting everything up each time.
Yes, not having a dedicated space for video creation can be a major distraction and hurdle.
Every time you want to film, you're bogged down by the tedious process of setting up equipment like lights, cameras, and audio gear.
This continual need to construct and deconstruct your filming area not only eats up valuable time but can seriously disrupt your creative flow and momentum.
Tip 3: Break it Down into Manageable Tasks
Tackle your video project in smaller, more manageable portions:
I've posted a detailed video on YouTube walking through my entire video creation workflow. Check it out to see how I bring my video ideas to life.
Once you’ve mastered these 3 tips, you are free to get creative with however you want your schedule and video to look!
Remember, it is important that you start now before you miss an opportunity. The most perfect opportunity is at any time.
