Start Now And Optimise Later
Rana Shahbaz
I help founders clarify their website messaging using StoryBrand 7 Part Framework to connect with their audience, increase conversions and grow their businesses one email a day.
In this week, I took my own advice, which I preach to my tribe.
"Start now and optimise later."
A plan was simple, to write one post per day, no matter what. Because I was looking for the ideal moment for the last 10 years to write.
I started blogging back in 2010 and then went into perfection syndrome.
I wanted everything to be perfect before I start blogging.
I wanted:
- An ideal post idea
- Finest keyword research
- Killer post title
- Perfectly written and formated
- Have the best picture
The list goes on and on, which resulted in years of no writing.
I left all these perfections behind and just concentrated on writing and promoting. Every new post this week went bigger and bigger.
I started with posts only, didn't have any plan on writing articles.
On Thursday, I was writing the post as usual and I exceeded the word limit that LinkedIn post allows, which forced me to go down the article route.
So that was the birth of my first LinkedIn article, The Quickest Way to Become Financially Independent.
The article went well.
Yesterday, was my last day of this personal challenge to write daily, I was so determined to hit the publish button that I even left Oleg Vishnepolsky & Brigette Hyacinth to include in the LinkedIn inspirations list.
Oleg was so kind as to like the post even though I missed him to include in the post. Actually, now I know that I missed a huge list, which qualifies to be included.
I only got active on LinkedIn about 2 weeks ago and still getting my head around. So, if I have missed you, please accept my sincere apologies.
You all are great inspirations!
I got the post idea you need inspiration, not motivation from a comment I made on Natalie Obino's post and managed to wrote the post within an hour or so.
Even there are typos in the article, which I need to go and fix after publishing this article.
The post, went viral and as of writing this (just after 24 hours), it has:
- Over 3000 reactions
Prominent people like Oleg Vishnepolsy Kalilur Rehman, Adam Danyal liked the post.
It was not possible without your help.
Everyone who has gone above and beyond to support me. You’re all influencers in your own right and I thank you for your unconditional love and support.
I would like to thank you, everyone, who read, liked, commented and shared, sent me personal messages to provide feedback, which helped to get this post in front of people like Oleg, Kalilur & Adam.
I would also like to say a big thank you to all the influencers particularly Ahmad Iman for going above and beyond to support me. You are truly an inspiration, keep inspiring guys.
Conclusion
If you have something to say, don't delay say it today because tomorrow is not guaranteed.
As Seth Godin says, "shipping regularly matters." Quality is important so do the shipping regularly.
Once again, thank you all to inspire and support me to write.

5 年Rana Shahbaz You are right. It is about starting and just get moving. I found clarity as I write more articles. Yes, I think too much and many articles go unpublished. It’s a journey with a lot of support and inspiration from the LI network.

5 年Perfectionist is a polished-word of fear of failure. I begin to understand it when I decide to start writing an article despite of my lack of writing skill. I try to divert my focus from the fear of failure to the fear of doing nothing. Besides, I also try to always remember my WHY of writing an article. In the end, all of us are in our own process of learning. So, in every new role, activity, experiment we make, there are only 2 options, whether succeed or learn new aspect.
