Start By Finishing
We've been taught all wrong. We start at the wrong spot. We ask the wrong question. We are asked the wrong question.
As children we are taught from a very early age by being asked; "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
Perhaps you have kids in high school being asked the same question.
I personally remember having to answer this question in high school. I had just enlisted with the military and big decisions were forced upon me at that time. I made a decision regardless.?
So what is the solution? Well, this question is really directed to someone who already owns a business or someone who works for a company- not necessarily a teenager.
The original equation goes something like this. Answer the question: What do you want to do? The next step is to learn to actually do the 'do.' Have I confused you yet? And the final step will create the definition or result of your decision. In short: Do. Learn. Define.?
Let's flip that equation.?
Define what it is you want. What income, lifestyle, impact, the kind of life you would like to live. Next, learn from someone who has already achived that result. And the final step:?do what they they did.?
In short: Define. Learn. Do.?
This week in one of my mastermind groups we are talking about vision, what we are really talking about is the 'define.'
This is not necessarily easy to do, but vital to live the life you want to live and create new results.?
And this equation works everytime.?
Let me give you a personal example. I am currently training for a 50 mile foot race. I've never done this before so I am not really sure what questions even to ask. But I have already completed the first step.
I do, however know a few people who have done this. So my first step is to set the goal or the outcome.?
My define is to complete a 50 mile foot race. This goal or result is pretty straighforward.?

The next step is to learn from somone who has done this. Over the last year and a half I have read multiple books on ultra-marathons and I have up to this point completed a marathon last November and completed a 50k last April. In the process I have met several others who have completed a?50 mile and 100 mile ultra-marathon.?
Because my goal is to complete a 50 mile foot race, I have reached out to and asked questions from others who have already successfully completed this event.?
I was given a 20 week training program to follow where I run at least 4 days a week.?
What's next?
The 'Do.'
As I type this article out I am starting week 13 today.?
I have defined my goal, I have learned and I am currently learning from others who have created success in this area and now I am actually doing the steps to get to my goal.?
Define. Learn. Do.
So how does this relate to you? How can you use this formula?
Well, do you have a fitness goal, a business goal, a finance goal??It does not matter the goal, someone somewhere has found success in that?area. You just need to find someone who has created success and is willing to help you.?
So how can you apply this in your life today?
Pick an area in your life you'd like to improve. Health. Relationships. Work. Business. Finances.?
A great question I use when starting this equation is this: A year from what do I want my ______ to look like? And spend some time really answering that question. Spend time on that vision. Or simply set a goal.
Once you have that defined, find a person in that area you know has results and start the process to do the things that person did to create the result.?
Using this?formula has made a big difference in my life and I hope it does the same for you.?
