Dear Pioneers,
On Monday September 30, 2024, at least 800 people felt like pioneers, of which around 500 were staff. The location: Hamburg, northern Germany. That’s where we, Quest One and Chancellor Scholz opened their newest factory. It’s one of the largest and most advanced European production plants for electrolyzer stacks – and will reach a capacity of over 5 GW a year! CEO Robin v. Plettenberg took us on a very personal journey in his welcome speech:

-??????? his family owns forests and has observed firsthand the negative effects of human-driven climate change as they dry up
-??????? he has four children; when asked “Dad, what did you do to make the world a better place?” he is able to answer with a clear conscience: I did something every day

On October 2, following nicely on from the gigahub opening (which is creating many manufacturing jobs!), I’ll be discussing at an event of Zukunftsagentur Rheinisches Revier GmbH the topic of hydrogen labor and education in the Rhenish coal region. There we’ll meet with local industry players, educational institutions and the Federal Employment Agency ( Bundesagentur für Arbeit ). You’ll remember that on July 23 we had a webinar on this subject with the Institute for Employment Research ( Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung ) and the Institute of Economic Structures Research ( GWS – Gesellschaft für Wirtschaftliche Strukturforschung ).
