Start a business Today
Today is Monday
- Register a business via CIPC (R175)
- Create business social media pages & accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Develop a business plan (short version)
- Create marketing material via Canva
- Setup a schedule to run a business effectively
- Create a website via WordPress (watch couple of videos you should be able to learn how to create a website). www.yourcompany.co.za
- Have company email address ([email protected])
- Create an email list (leads) of people who are showing an interest in your business
- Open a business bank account, you are going to need +/-R500 (it is yours just to hold a bank account)
- Go back to the CIPC system and print a BBEEE certificate (free)
- Spend time thinking about branding (logo, colours, font size and style)
- Hire someone to create a logo for your business or try it yourself via Canva (I would recommend a professional)
- Create email signature with all your details (email address, cellphone numbers, social media handles, telephone number [if applicable], address/location)
- Create documents' letter head & footer
- Print couple of t-shirt & caps for you to wear around as a marketing strategy (awareness) and maybe give away few to friends and family (if budget allows, you can also print Memory Sticks, Lanyards, key holders, cups, glasses, etc.)
- Think about financial plan (where are you going to source the money to run the business, how much do you need and for what, saving and investment plan to accumulate the funds, emergency funds, policies' funds, salaries, equipment)
- If you are creating a product - think about prospective suppliers, compare prices and delivery time, quality, and professionalism of the company that is going to be supplying you. I am sure you have the skill to create the product if you don't then get qualified people or company to do it for you
- if you will be offering a service; specify the delivery timeframe, Service Lease Agreement (SLA) specifying how you are going to be offering the service and all the nitty-gritties.
- Lastly, do not forget legal issue such as contract for employees and partners
You should be good to go, if you have the above things in place. That would be a formal business that has a huge potential to make a lot of money.
