The year is almost over, and as business owners, we are all deep into 2023 goal-setting and planning. If you're in the thick of it, remember these five essential considerations for your strategy to be effective, informed, and successful.
5 things you can't forget in 2023 strategic planning:
?1. Identify where you need to be - Know your numbers and what revenue, volume, or service goals you need to meet to succeed in 2023.
2. Get crystal clear on goals - Determine a few absolute goals. Whether that is to reach $X amount in profit or to sell X number of products, get exact and completely clear on your goals. You can't reach it if you don't know where you are heading.
3. Evaluate your market and competitors - Even if you think you know about it already, take time to re-look at your market. Has anything changed? Have any new competitors come along? What do they do differently than you? This information will help inform smart strategic decisions.
?4. Identify your priorities and your budget - If you don't know what you can afford to spend, you won't be able to prioritize your approaches. Be realistic. Establish your budget first, and then you will be able to prioritize your tactics based on what you can afford.
5. Evaluate your staff and resources - Be honest about your internal resources and what support you need. Ignoring your resources and plan without considering your staff and workload will mean establishing priorities that may not be possible.
In creating your strategic plan for 2023, you need to be realistic and thorough in your research and setup. Then you will be able to establish priorities that are able to be accomplished and aligned with your organizational reality.
