The stars aligned...

Its always great to get recognition for the hard work your team does. Returning from holiday today I learnt that our very own PPM+ (The home built Leeds Electronic Health Record solution) has been nominated in the Best ‘Not for Profit’ Sector IT Project and that I’ve been put in the short list for CIO of the year in the same awards.

The UK IT Industry Awards are a bit like the Oscars, sponsored by Computing and the British Computer Society it feels like a great achievement for a solution like PPM+ to be recognised in this area at these awards.

What is even greater though is to see so many NHS organisations in the same categories, the very awesome Chris Reynolds from Pennine Care NHS FT in the CIO of the year category and so many other healthcare organisations in the project of the year category:

• Belfast Health & Care Trust - NISTAR eHealth Solution,
• Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - Digital Ward,
• NHS NECS - NHS Wi-Fi - Paving the way for Digital Patient Care,
• Pennine Care Foundation Trust - Improving Community Clinical Recording and Information Exchange

Hopefully this means that the awards in November will see some of the accolades ‘coming home’ to the 70 year old blue and white badge.

As the sage like Mr. Andy Kinnear is fond of saying at the moment, “The stars are aligned for healthcare technology.” More and more it really does feel that way...
