Encouragingly for the Prime Minister, there appears to be an appetite for development , with ‘yimbyism’ set to be a key conference theme.
The Government has pulled no punches in setting out its agenda for progressing renewable energy projects.The question now is will this ambition be mirrored with progress on other key infrastructure? ?
Roads , rail and even new datacentres are all in the queue for urgent investment.?
How these get delivered and financed is another matter.?
At the recent launch of the new Labour Infrastructure Forum, Chief Secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones MP recommitted to creating the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA) to oversee government strategy.
Eyes across the industry will be on whether this will be more effective than its predecessors.?
For those tasked with delivery, a guaranteed long-term pipeline of projects that can cut across going short-term political cycles will be key. ?Supply chains – from contractors to materials suppliers – equally need certainty and confidence to be able to build resource and invest. ?
A few reassurances in Liverpool will give everyone a little more hope.?
The Resolution Foundation has concluded that a boost of public sector funding is necessary to deliver the 1.5 million homes target.? ?
