Nestlé will pay $7.15 billion for the rights to sell Starbucks products worldwide, outside Starbucks stores. The deal, which will also add Starbucks coffee to Nestlé’s Nespresso and Dolce Gusto machines, gives Nestlé a boost against rival JAB Holdings — which has recently snapped up Douwe Egberts, Peet’s Coffee & Tea and Keurig Green Mountain. Nestlé also bought a majority stake in upscale brand Blue Bottle Coffee last year. The food giant is working to regain its footing in the U.S. against JAB and other coffee competitors. ? NAFTA talks are set to resume today. Canadian and Mexican negotiators will meet with U.S. trade representative Robert Lighthizer in a “make-or-break week” for the talks — the three nations hope to resolve key sticking points, including auto manufacturing rules and a NAFTA “sunset clause.” The U.S. has threatened to revoke metal tariff exemptions for Canada and Mexico unless there's a renegotiated NAFTA agreement; last week the exemptions were extended until June 1. ? Tesla will block contractors from accessing its buildings unless employees personally vouch for them, reports Electrek. During the company’s latest earnings call, CEO Elon Musk said the number of contracting companies used by the automaker “is out of control” — and, according to an email to staff, any contractors without an employee’s written backing will be barred from facilities and networks starting today. Musk said last week that “restructuring” to meet goals — Tesla aims to be profitable by the second half of the year — would begin in May. ? Share your thoughts: #TeslaContractors

The view from Buffett-palooza: Over 40,000 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders went to Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday to attend the company’s annual meeting. The highlight? A freewheeling, five hour-plus Q&A with legendary investor and Berkshire CEO Warren Buffett and vice chairman Charlie Munger. Here’s LinkedIn’s Chip Cutter with the details. ? Share your thoughts: #BRK2018

Robocalls have reached an all-time high. An estimated 3.4 billion automated scam calls were made to Americans last month — over 900 million a month more than the same time last year. Lawmakers are working to address the jump, with both the House and Senate holding hearings in recent weeks. Both chambers of Congress have also introduced or passed legislation aiming to stem the tide of such calls. In March, however, an appeals court weakened part of the FCC’s efforts to tackle robocalls, saying its definition of “autodialer” was too broad. ? Share your thoughts:#RobocallsSurge

Idea of the Day: The best leaders are balanced — which means they have a bold vision tempered by a healthy dose of humility, says Capital One SVP Katya Andresen.

“Within us, we all have two selves — the brave one that stands out and the fearful one that can hardly bear the exposure. Our best work requires they coexist.”

Nestlé is one of my least favorite companies in the world. To much baggage for me from a history of being less than what I would regard as an ethical company. I just can't purchase anything associated with the Nestle company. Sad they are affiliated with Starbucks. I sort of liked Starbucks.

Yes “Within us, we all have two selves — the brave one that stands out and the fearful one that can hardly bear the exposure. Our best work requires they coexist.” We have to be bold for the higher good of humanity But humble about our capacity to bring change A mood of #SpiritualAdventure combines those 2 attitudes together ??
