"Imposter Syndrome"... ?
"Me Too Marketing"...?
"Lost In The Noise"...?
?As an entrepreneur it can be really challenging to not feel like everything under the sun has already been done.?
?With our hyper-connectedness and infinite access to information, you don't have to look very far to find someone else doing pretty much EXACTLY what you are doing.?
?Sometimes they're seemingly doing it better, and many times you'll find a bunch of newbies trying to claim they're the latest and greatest...?
?Spend some time looking around online and you'll typically find you're in a "red ocean", with more than enough people all feeding off the same market pool.?
?
?Here are a few ways to address that reality:?
?1) Understand that if there really is a lot of competition, then it often means its profitable. Ghost towns are ghost towns for a reason... there's nothing profitable or worthwhile there. No people, no business.?
?
?2) YOU are your own brand. And there is no one else just like you. People do business with people they like trust and respect, and that means they buy the person ("brand") behind the product before they buy the thing you offer. Brand yourself with quality, personality, and service and you'll always stand out.?
?
?3) "Marketing" is not a true differentiator. Sure splashy, eye catching graphics and ad campaigns will draw people in at first, but QUALITY and RESULTS are what will keep people coming back. Don't look for the one time sale. Offer enough value that they will want to stick with you regardless of who else is in your market space.?
?
?4) Be future-thinking. If everyone in your industry is doing things the same way- project 3-5-10 years and look for where you foresee things going. Remember, NOTHING stays the same forever, and those that can analyze the past and then use that data to identify trends and build projections on what people are going to want in the future is the best way to stay ahed of the curve and become a leader in your industry and not just another carbon copy of everyone else.
