Standards to reduce methane emissions

The European Commission adopted the regulation on reduction of #methaneemissions on 15th November.

In order to facilitate its implementation, the regulation is asking for #standards to be used as reference documents to audit compliance of operators with the regulation by notified bodies.

The gas industry answered this call and committed to develop these standards.

A contract was signed on 17th November between the European agency #EISMEA and #CEN to develop 3 standards.

They will be developed within 42 months by CEN/TC 234/WG14, Methane emissions. 3 sub-groups have been set up to develop them in parallel:

-????????? quantification of methane emissions in gas operations, Ronald Kenter

-????????? surveys to detect and repair methane leakages in gas operations, Liliane Wietzerbin

-????????? equipment to avoid venting in gas operations. Pascal Alas
