Standardising approaches for the Waste Industry across Australia

Standardising approaches for the Waste Industry across Australia

I recently wrote a blog post for Resource Hub where I shared my observations from recent jobs that the team and I have been delivering for Councils and facilities across Australia. And I’d love to open this topic up for discussion!!

Someone asked me recently on one of our trips,?why we couldn’t just have one suite of approaches when it comes to things like transactional data, or managing our finance/admin processes, or our tip face??Because don't we all do things the same way?

And it's a fabulous question, because yes, in my experience facilities in all states have the same challenges, and the same solutions. I think there is a?significant opportunity for us to leverage learnings from each other?and?build capacity within our teams! Wouldn’t you agree??

The following day, I had a great conversation with the Deputy Director General of Queensland’s Department of Environment, Karen Hussey, about standardising approaches in Queensland, and it’s great to see such interest from a state department in helping support local, government and commercial facilities to share experiences and learnings. I’m just hoping that we can see outcomes from these chats rolled out across the country as well, in addition to the Sunshine state.?

What do you think would be the best solution for Australia's waste industry to harness knowledge and standardise approaches across the board instead of constantly reinventing the wheel?

You can read my full blog post on our website if you want to find out more about my thoughts on the subject.

Such an important discussion to be driving Lacey. As someone that benefits from the services of the Waste industry but is outside the inner-workings I just assumed there was more standardisation and knowledge sharing.
