Standard Spotlight: CAN/ULC-S705.1:2018-REV1
The Revision 1 of the Fourth Edition of CAN/ULC-S705.1, Standard for Thermal Insulation – Spray Applied Rigid Polyurethane Foam, Medium Density – Material Specification, was published on March 19, 2021.
This Revision of the Standard has been formally approved by the ULC Standard Committee on Thermal Performance and Energy Use in the Built Environment (S700).
This Revision of CAN/ULC-S705.1 includes the following changes:
- Section 2 - Update of the referenced ULC Standards documents to their latest versions, which were developed and approved by the same technical committee; and
- Clause 3.8 – Correction of an error made in the previous definition for Site Quality Assurance Program, which only required a program based on ISO 12576-2 or CAN/ULC-S718, but did not specify System C in ISO 12576-2. Without "System C" included, the two documents (ISO 12576-2 and CAN/ULC-S718) are not equivalent alternatives, because System A in ISO 12576-2 allows for self-inspection and declaration of conformance. Furthermore, ISO 12576-2 provides three levels of conformance, with only System C being equivalent to the requirements in CAN/ULC-S718.
This Standard is referenced in the National Building Code of Canada.
