Shopping campaigns are back...?

And they're beating PMax in the auction thanks to Google’s latest update.

Here's the thing:?

PMax isn't always the answer anymore.

And in most of our accounts we’re transitioning back to shopping.

Why??

Because Standard Shopping:

  • Lets you add campaign level negative keywords
  • Allows custom ROAS targets at ad group level
  • Grants you the ability to add your own bid adjustments

PMax can do none of these things.

What’s more?

Standard shopping is your best friend for incremental sales.

You can forcibly target ice cold customers.

Whereas pMax will always do some level of remarketing.

So, how do you tie standard shopping campaigns into your account?

Here’s what we did for this brand:

As you can see, we had:

  • Cold Shopping (for best-selling products on a low tROAS to allow for higher traffic volume)
  • Cold Search (on exact match keywords which are also able to outrank pMax)
  • PMax (for underperformers and to push the rest of the product catalogue)
  • Brand defence campaigns (purely to defend against competitors)

Once you’re launched?

  • Check search terms every 72 hrs and exclude irrelevant terms
  • Check audience demographics every week and add bid adjustments
  • Lower tROAS and increase budgets to scale
  • Raise tROAS to increase profitability if needed
  • Optimise your product feed incessantly to get a better CTR%
  • Monitor your search impression share

I have questions please : 1- if the account does not have access to Troas for shopping campaign, which bid strategy will you use ? 2- about the search terms : do you keep only search terms with high intention of conversion only or keep just relevant terms ?
