Standard of Quality Education in Sindh Pakistan!!!

The right to education is not only the right to access education but also the right to receive an education of good quality. Education must be available and accessible but also acceptable and adaptable. The Sindh Government has in the last four years carried out annual Standardized Achievement Test (SAT) to measure learning achievement among students of class V and class VIII to know student’s achievement, to inform parents, educational administration, civil society and government and then gradually shift to result based reforms, to link the educational reforms with output/outcome rather than input,  Standardized Achievement test is any test, which is given to large student population under standard conditions with standardized procedures, Students respond similar questions with similar test conditions, directions and time students have been appearing in this test since then in order to provide a real time picture of the quality of education being provided.  Overall, maths and science achievement is considerably weak in the province students

The test was developed from the National Curriculum 2006/7 of grade V and VIII-Languages (Sindhi/Urdu/Eng), Math & Science, Two test booklets (A & B) were developed, having different MCQs and CRQs , The test has four sections including Practice Test, Language, Math and Science subjects , A total no of 124 Taluka Coordinators and 2,322 Invigilators were selected by SAT office SIBA in all 29 districts of Sindh province, A total of 290,406 students appeared in the SAT exams in 2016. It covers only government school students

But unfortunately SAT-IV 2015-16 revealed the very shocking result the overall average marks of class v in Karachi Region is 30, Shaheed Benazirabad 27, Mirpurkhas 27,Hyderabad 26, Larkana 24, Sukkur 23. The overall average marks of class VIII in Karachi Region is 30, Shaheed Benazirbad 29, Mirpurkhas 26, Hyderabad 27, Larkana 28, Sukkur 24.

The overall Gender wise performance of Class V and VIII students of Sindh shows that girls in leading position in both calss Vand VIII the average score of the boys of Class V is 25 and Gilrs 27 in Class VIII the average marks of the boys of Class VIII score is 27 and Gilrs score is 30

The learning outcomes of Class V students of Larkana district is very much poor from the rest of sindh Larkana district is on 29th no in Language, the average score of Class v students is 27 in Math 20 and in Science 19. in Class VIII students of Larkana district 29th no in Language the average score of Class v students is 27 in Math 20 and

On the other hand SAT IV report further revealed the overall marks of the student of Sindh in Language, Math and Science in class v the average marks of students of Sindh in Language is 32, Math 23 and in science 23, the overall marks of the Class VIII student of Sindh in Language 37, Math 22 and Science 24. It shows the socking learning outcomes of the students which studies in government schools yet Sindh government has no any action plan to assure the quality education in government schools

IBA further suggested Sindh government to establishment of Sindh Examination Commission and all students of Class V & VIII may examined by third party and then promoted to next level. Professional development focused on developing conceptual understanding and application (in Math and Science), Math and Science subjects should be taught as fun, Developing teachers’ understanding and skills on student-centered teaching methods: such as activity-based teaching, problem solving approaches, inquiry-based projects. Training Teachers to Creating Balance of Focus between "Reading" and "Writing" Skills and Training Teachers to Develop Students Genuine Writing Skills Instead of Teaching Writing as Note-dictating, Changing Math Instructions to Focus on Developing Children's "Conceptual Understanding" and "Problem Solving" Skills Instead of Just Remembering the Rules and Procedures
