Stand up

So, I have been seeing a lot about the opening of another adult store here is Rome. I have read comments about people who are opposed to this. The people who are opposed to this are being called hypocrites because they believe in the Bible. I absolutely believe in the Bible in its entirety. I don’t pick and choose the parts that best fit my life. I believe that it was a mistake to allow these businesses to open up because of the dangers they bring with them. Pornography does nothing but destroy lives. I am sure that there are some who willingly choose to pursue that type of life. The reality is that too many are forced into that lifestyle. These are not just young men and women, but young children that are kidnapped and forced into slavery.

The same people who are all up in arms when they read a story about a child being kidnapped in broad daylight are saying that these adult stores have the rights to run a business. What do you think happens to those kids who are ripped away from their families? Let’s just look at the facts about Georgia.

• Atlanta was named by the FBI as one of 14 US cities with the highest rate of children used in prostitution
• In Georgia, 12,400 men purchase sex with young women in any given month.
• Approximately 100 adolescent females are sexually exploited each night in Georgia.
• In Georgia, adolescent females controlled by the child sex trafficking trade are sexually exploited by an adult male on an average of three times per night.

The adult entertainment industry profits from human suffering. So, I am a Christian and believe in the Bible. Am I a hypocrite because I am a Christian and I do not want stores who profit from garbage like these adult entertainment stores coming into my hometown? Am I a hypocrite because I don’t want to see any company making money off the suffering of another human being? Pornography does nothing but destroys lives. I am posting a link from a video by a company called Fight the New Drug. By the way this is not a faith-based company. This video talks about the role of pornography in the Elizabeth Smart abduction. This is just one story that is out there.

I am going to be very blunt to all of you who label Christians hypocrites because they stand against companies like these adult entertainment stores. People like me pray for those people who are forced into prostitution and the adult film industry only to be used up until they are not profitable and are discarded like they are pieces of garbage or murdered. You want to talk about being a hypocrite then talk about those who support adult stores like these who contribute to tragedies like what happened to Elizabeth Smart.

Please do not think of this as me being on my soap box. I will tell you right now, I stand on the Word of God. Let’s get real some of you don’t know what a Christian looks like. You may have been to one or two churches where you didn’t feel like you belonged. Don’t let one bad experience turn you away from something that is so important. The churches I have been too are filled with people who genuinely in love with God and all they want to do is share that with you. Are there people who attend church regularly who sin on a daily basis? Yes, there are. I actually know the exact percentage of those type of people that are in every church all over the world. The percentage is 100% of the people who attend church sin on a daily basis. We don’t claim to be perfect and realize that we are broken just like everyone else. So, no, we are not hypocrites for standing against companies like these adult entertainment stores.
