Stand out like an ill-timed toot (with a Mann-made slogan)

Stand out like an ill-timed toot (with a Mann-made slogan)

Ever farted in yoga class?

Me neither.

But if you did, it would probably feel like everyone in the room heard you and that when you die (if the embarrassment didn't get you), your tombstone would read: "Here lies the one who passed gas in wind-relieving pose."

(I mean, to be fair, there’s a reason they call it that.)

You might not wish all ears to be on you when this happens, but we’re only human...

We all fart, we all think farts are funny (when they happen to other people), and we all notice the unexpected.

A well-crafted one-liner should be like a fart in yoga class… surprising, memorable, and offering an immediate sense of connection and relief.

Bonus points if it doesn’t stink.

If that’s not a segue, I don’t know what is.

Most entrepreneurs are full of ideas, but not everyone is skilled at writing one-liners. Even if you are good at writing punchy copy, you likely have a blind spot when it comes to your own stuff. (????♀?)

You might be holding one in (a launch or offer) because you haven’t come up with a catchy description yet. Or maybe your slogan or hook is not doing a great job of getting your point across.

I LOVE writing one-liners that grab attention in a surprising way and leave a lasting impression (just like an ill-timed toot)… while being on brand.

Plus, I work fast.

Here are a few examples of lines I’ve come up with for clients over the years:

?? Friends with BeneFritz (Loyalty program for Fritz Chocolates)

?? A greener cleaner makes more scents! (Slogan for an all-purpose cleaner made with essential oils for an aromatherapeutic effect)

?? We put plants in your pants. (Tagline for a line of vegan leggings made from plants)

?? Come for the deals, stay for the feels! (Tagline for a discount dental supply company that always goes the extra smile … that was my line, too)

?? Your home is where our heart is! (Brand statement for a custom home builder with a sincerity brand personality.)

?? We have your best health and Guelph fare in mind. (Website heading for a Guelph restaurant that focuses on locally sourced healthy ingredients.)

Introducing… “Hook, Line, and Thinker” your Mann-made Slogan Solution

Give me three days, and I’ll give you a one-of-a-kind hook that you can use wherever you want to get attention (t-shirts, merch, signage, website copy, business cards, social media posts, networking events, podcast promos, trade-show booths, vehicle wraps, ads, bios, etc.).

Here’s how it works:

  1. You pay $350 and answer a couple of simple questions about your business.
  2. Claim a spot on my calendar at an upcoming in-person or virtual group Hook, Line, and Thinker event. I ask questions to help me understand your brand’s value and differentiator, and then I will deliver a brilliant one-liner within three business days.
  3. From there, if you want more of my brain, you can invest in a VIP day, and I’ll deduct the cost of your HLT Fee.

Not comfortable talking about your business in a group? No problem. For an extra $150, you can upgrade to a private 1:1 session.

Space is limited, so I suggest grabbing a spot sooner rather than later!

I’m still trying to figure out the best way to automate this process, but done is better than perfect. So, I’m going to do this the old-fashioned way and invite you to send me a DM if you want to play. We can take it from there.

In the meantime…

If you want a slogan that isn’t a stinker, just think of JL as your Hook, Line, And Thinker.
