The stampede to live online learning

The stampede to live online learning

In a post Covid-19 world there is a fantastic opportunity for L&D professionals to set new standards for engaging blended learning solutions that deliver real behavioural change. At the same time there is pressure from business leaders and key stake holders to rapidly convert existing classroom based workshops into live online sessions. The result of which could be a flood of poor content that doesn’t engage the learner.

Read my thoughts on this critical time in learning and development.

Over the last few years I've seen a number of businesses invest in online "content" in the format videos/questionnaires. Personally I'm not convinced these were achieving what they needed to; ie behaviour change and/or education. But with the advent of Covid the need for engaging content is paramount and I think the previous few years do not provide for good templates. Personally, I've been super fortunate in delivering online "practice" sessions since Covid hit and the format has been extraordinary successful for numerous reasons. However, if I'd tried to encourage companies to try this format before covid... it would never have happened. Richard is right ... standards for online delivery must exceed simply migrating powerpoint slides to online slides which is why it's genuinely great to see so many individuals setting that new standard. Nice article.
