Who are Stakeholders?
Who gets affected, can affect or perceive they are affected by the project or its outcome.
While both these terms are used interchangeably, Stakeholder Management (SM) is a process and is a skill-based discipline, while Stakeholder Engagement (SE) is the expected outcome more about competency based best practices and guidelines.
Stakeholders are difficult or almost impossible to manage as they are not the processes or controllable entities, rather they are individuals, organizations, governments, legal bodies etc., who could and should be engaged appropriately and change managed (another critical management aspect) alongside managing 100 other things as Project Management professional, for successful initiative outcomes and benefits realization .
