Staging a Home for a Veteran on Veteran’s Day

Every day at MHM Professional Staging, we get to transform empty houses into beautiful homes. It’s not every day, however, that we get to put our skills to work for a heroic cause. Staging a beautiful, mortgage-free home for a veteran is one of the ways we can give back to our heroes.

This Veteran’s Day, we had the honor of staging a home for the Whatts family. Retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Jerry Whatts, Jr. and his wife Jeaniel, a Navy reservist, have a beautiful family with four children ranging from newborn to 15 years old. As their family grew over the years, the Whatts family dreamed of a larger home. On November 15, 2019, that dream came true. PulteGroup, through their Built to Honor program and in partnership with Operation Homefront, provided the Whatts family with their brand new home in West Florida—completely mortgage free! Our professional staging team made sure that the family’s first impression of their new home was one to remember.

About the Whatts Family

Retired U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Jerry Whatts, Jr. and his wife Jeaniel, a Navy reservist, served on multiple deployments, including in Iraq and Afghanistan. The two met while stationed aboard the USS Nimitz. After serving in the Navy, Jerry faced a difficult recovery from injuries he sustained. He and Jeaniel dealt with financial challenges that prevented them from purchasing the single family home they needed for their growing family. Thankfully, just four months ago, they were accepted into Operation Homefront’s Homes on the Homefront (HOTH) program.

About Built to Honor

In partnership with Operation Homefront, the Built to Honor program provides mortgage-free homes to returning military personnel who have been injured during their term of service. Built to Honor works in hand-in-hand with nonprofit organizations to select veteran candidates across the country. In the last 5 years, Built to Honor has delivered homes to 50 veterans and their families as they transition out of the military and into a new phase of their lives.
