Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICS Finance Team named ‘Finance Team of the Year’

MPFT’s Finance team, alongside system partners in NHS organisations across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, have been named Finance Team of the Year.

The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) National Healthcare Finance Awards programme recognises the work of finance teams and individuals from across the UK.

The awards look to recognise best practices in all aspects of finance, including the production of the accounts, costing, governance, training and development, as well as the vital area of innovation. The awards also focus on the importance of engaging clinicians in financial management.

Chris Sands (Chief Financial Officer, MPFT) said “This award win recognises the joint work that has been taken forward across a number of areas to make best use of the Staffordshire pound. This includes developments in system financial planning and reporting, managing capital resources, how we support each other around procurement, and how we share best practice around payroll and develop joint programmes around system finance staff development.

“This is a very prestigious national award and I’d like to thank my MPFT finance colleagues for their continued efforts. It’s a great platform for us to continue the joint work with our partners, with finance being a key enabler to improve patient care."

Paul Brown (Chief Finance Officer, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board) said “I believe finance is fundamental to delivering high-quality care. We have come together so that all of our finance teams are working as one. The overall benefit is that we look at the patient as an individual, and we’ve aligned our work with those in primary care like GPs, secondary care in our hospitals, mental health and social care, to follow not only the clinical care of the patient but also the finances, to make sure we’re making the best use of resources to get that care.”
