Staff Reading Suggestions: Part VIII

Shimee Gomes is our Americorps VISTA and dove headfirst into our work on breaking the cycle of family poverty and homelessness. She’s learned a lot on the structural issues behind this crisis and about intergenerational poverty. What she found interesting about the following article is what Imagine LA has been talking about for years: Family Homelessness is more hidden and more difficult to count, and more needs to be done to combat this issue.?

The other thing Shimee has learned during her service at Imagine LA it is that there is no one solution to this crisis. She believes we need varied, localized approaches to this persistent issue. Different cities require different solutions, and when it comes to a metro area as big as Los Angeles, even specific neighborhoods have their own specific needs.
