It's been said that your staff are the lifeblood of your business.

If you don't believe that, then you're losing out on the one thing that could actually increase your revenue.

Yes, your staff can help your business grow.

Basically, focus on your employees.

Here are a few ways:


INCENTIVISE

Everyone works for their salary or commission, but to receive some form of specific recognition for excellent work can mean so much more. The incentive doesn't need to be money either. In fact, ensure that it isn't. Look to more creative means of incentivising, such as experiences like spa treatments, overnight stays, surprise gifts boxes, and what about coaching vouchers?


FORM AN IDEA THINK TANK

When employees know that their ideas matter, they start to expand in their confidence and skill set. Give them room to express themselves. You will be surprised at what can come from this, and who knows, their ideas may further grow your business.


APPRECIATE THAT THEY HAVE LIVES TOO

Sure, they are there to work. They get paid to work. But, we are all human, and have lives outside of work. Those personal lives do sometimes creep into work life, and it is advisable to appreciate this. Being an understanding employer will do your business better than you know.


THROW MICRO-MANAGING IN THE TRASH

Giving the people you employed the space and confidence to actually do the job you employed them to do, can be both empowering and freeing. Freeing for you, the owner. Micro-managing shouldn't be part of your processes. Give them the benefit of the doubt. If you have trained them well enough and have specific work processes in place, then you shouldn't have to manage them at all.


In ending, as quoted by Richard Branson, "Clients do not come first, Employees come first. If you take care of our Employees, they will take care of our Clients."
