STADA Collaborates with the Chilean Ministry of Women and Gender Equity: A Shared Vision for Gender Justice
Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse
'bringing communities together to end domestic abuse'
Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse (STADA) was recently honoured to join an insightful meeting at the Chilean Embassy, hosted by the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity of Chile, on 23rd October. Our CEO, Cherryl Henry-Leach and COO, Jo Choi, attended this gathering that brought together an inspiring mix of global delegates, diplomats, and advocates united in advancing feminist policy frameworks and gender justice on an international scale.
Invited by the Chilean Ministry, STADA joined the conversation to share insights from its Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Network, which has been instrumental in addressing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in the UK. The session fostered vibrant discussions on the cross-sector efforts currently preventing gender-based violence globally and showcased Chile’s focus on advancing #FeministForeignPolicy—an approach that seeks to integrate gender equality into diplomatic and international relations practices.
Reflecting on the collaboration, STADA’s CEO, Cherryl, remarked: ?

It has been inspiring to witness the meaningful strides being made in Chile for women and gender equity. Meeting the delegation was a truly positive experience, and we are hopeful that the insights shared will support continued progress in Chile. We extend our best wishes to the delegation, and we would be delighted to explore further collaboration as their work advances. We are pleased to invite Chilean colleagues to participate in our next CCR Leaders course to support the impactful work happening in Chile."
With a positive turnout for various meetings, including diplomats and representatives from leading women-centered organisations, the discussion underscored the importance of feminist diplomacy and gender-focused policy solutions. The dialogue also highlighted Chile’s innovative initiatives to combat gender-based violence, further emphasising the role of women’s rights in shaping both domestic and international agendas.
About STADA: 25 Years of Pioneering Domestic Abuse Prevention in the UK
Founded 25 years ago, Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse (STADA) is dedicated to creating a safer environment for survivors and holding abusers accountable through its CCR model. Established as a local pilot project in 1998 in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, STADA has expanded its reach across the UK, addressing diverse forms of VAWG and partnering with a broad range of organisations to deliver a coordinated, community-centered response.
STADA’s model fosters collaboration across critical sectors, including law enforcement, social services, healthcare, housing, and faith-based communities, ensuring survivors from all backgrounds—especially those from marginalised communities—receive consistent and effective support. Through its policy advocacy, training programmes, and CCR-focused initiatives, STADA has driven systems change and has made notable contributions to national legislation, including the Domestic Abuse Act of 2021.
As STADA continues to work alongside partners like the Chilean Ministry of Women and Gender Equity, it reaffirms its commitment to systemic change and international collaboration?to create safer, more inclusive communities for all.
