Be Stable in Unstable Times.

Nowadays, saying that we live in a VUCA world is commonplace. Even in the past, there have always been unstable and changing situations. It is the nature of life to bring change through instability continuously. The instability can happen due to external environment such as a pandemic, wars, change in governments or closer to us in organisation with mergers and acquisitions, leadership changes, roles, actions of competition, within the family and social environment. Everything our lives are based become wobbly and disorient us. What to do?

Mundane activities like handling sea sickness, balancing in Yoga or simple advice on controlling motion sickness can show us the way. For example, sailors advise people to focus on the horizon or a distant object that appears fixed to overcome seasickness. In Yoga, while trying to balance on one foot, you look at one fixed point and focus. Simply focussing on a fixed point can stabilise the mind. Similarly, in our lives, having a sense of purpose can help us remain calm and steady in unstable times. So make sense of purpose, your guiding star, and you will overcome storms in your life.
