Tiger, Rory start-up TMRW attracts A-List investors (US)

TMRW Sports , the technology-focused venture from Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, has signed a raft of high-profile backers in its initial investor group. Athlete investors include the NBA star Steph Curry, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, US soccer star Alex Morgan, Formula One’s Lewis Hamilton and tennis icon Venus Williams. In total, TMRW Sports announced 26 ‘cultural icon’ investors, which also features the World Surf League’s (WSL) Kanoa Igarashi and professional gamer Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins.

Prime Video announces exclusive media rights deal with Overtime Elite (US)

Sony to launch second generation PlayStation VR headset

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Enters the Metaverse with Infinite Reality (Europe)

Warner Bros. Discovery Sports (WBD Sports), winners of the Best Use of Technology by a Broadcaster category at The Sports Technology Awards in May, is partnering with Infinite Reality to create new immersive digital experiences for sports fans powered by Web 3.0 and metaverse technologies. The deal sees Infinite Reality become the exclusive metaverse partner for Discovery Sports Events, a stable of managed properties that includes the FIM Speedway Grand Prix and the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup. The relationship is WBD Sports’ first to focus on the European market, with the two parties set to preview a metaverse experience during the UCI Track Champions League in December.
