New technology allows NHL and its teams to present dynamic dasherboards

The National Hockey League (NHL) has announced the debut of Digitally Enhanced Dasherboards (DED), an advanced approach to dynamic dasherboard advertising that will launch for the 2022-23 season. The DED system allows for the digital replacement of camera-visible arena dasherboards within local, national, and international NHL game broadcasts, ushering in the next wave of innovation to create new opportunities for the League, its Clubs and their media and corporate partners. The NHL has partnered with Supponor to develop the DED technology solution which uses remote, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based keying technology to program dasherboard advertising during game broadcasts by placing dynamic graphics over the camera-visible arena dasherboards.

Chase Center becomes first sports venue with Wi-Fi 6E

The reigning NBA Champion Golden State Warriors have partnered with HPE Aruba Networking , to deploy Wi-Fi 6E access points (APs) at Chase Center. This implementation marks the first Wi-Fi 6E network at a live entertainment venue in North America, and will significantly increase the available bandwidth in the arena as fans embrace streaming, uploading content and other high-bandwidth activities during events. The arena seats over 18,000 “Dub Nation” fans for basketball games and also hosts concerts and other events. The installation will also ensure ample bandwidth for stadium operations, IoT implementations, and experience-related services such as in-seat ordering and contactless payment.?

ESPN breaks new AR ground with real-time data visualization on Monday Night Football?

Last week, for the very first time in broadcast history, ESPN and DMED Technology brought data-fuelled augmented-reality technology to the gridiron on Monday Night Football. After roughly two years of development, last Monday’s Dallas Cowboys - New York Football Giants MNF game featured the launch of what could be described as a “real-time, data-driven AR telestrator.” It appeared for the first time on-air to showcase the precise speed of Giants running back Saquon Barkley on a breakaway 36-yard touchdown run.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has launched a reimagined global NBA App - an all-in-one destination for NBA fans of every team.?With a host of new personalization features, the NBA App will provide wall-to-wall content from every NBA game and feature social-style vertical video, unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to players and teams, new and existing shows and series, and access to the NBA vault for free. The new app is powered by the NBA’s new integrated digital platform, which was built in partnership with 微软 , the NBA’s official cloud and AI partner. The NBA App now includes a sleek new design and a first-of-its-kind “For You” experience, with content recommendations based on fan preferences and personalization powered by Microsoft Azure and Azure AI.

Fabric raises $4 million to augment reality at sporting events

Geospatial web platform Fabric has raised $4 million to upscale its augment sports experiences solution. Fabric transforms in-person events and experiences by delivering immersive real-time social, gaming, blockchain, and augmented reality (AR) experiences. The company recently rolled out some of its tech at NBA Summer League, and it will also be used during next week’s NBA exhibition games between the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks Inc. in Abu Dhabi. The capital raised will be used for product development, expansion, customer success, platform enhancements, improved data management, process automation, as well as the design and scaling of additional experiences.
