Staying LinkedIn during the Summertime!
My Summer Content Strategy
Summer is synonymous with winding down.?A time for holidaying. A time for relaxation. Adapting to this universal shift in energy, I tend to write less in-depth posts, ever in line with the needs of my audience.
I’m adept at using my phone – I enjoy the freedom it offers me - recording things on the fly, in all manner of different places. I like to use Capcut: a brilliant app for captions and so simple to use. I can’t recommend it highly enough. You can even add a call to action at the end and logo –and you’re good to go! All whilst you’re going about your daily business. I’ll find a quiet spot and share my thoughts for the week, adhoc. Not only does this give value, but it also shows a change of scenery in your posts, and spontaneity, which makes for memorable viewing as it offers a snapshot into your life – giving your followers the personal touch – which can only be a good thing.
I’m disciplined at carrying out various daily writing exercises, making sure I invest time in considering carefully every day how I can make myself resonate with my audience, and continually thinking about how I can offer help. But I also make a point of making each post slightly different, to keep interest levels up. As those of you who know me will often hear me saying, stories are everything on LinkedIn. A personal anecdote, combined with a catchy question or title, will really engage your audience and help you stand out from the crowd.
I particularly like sharing art in my posts, as this is something I am passionate about. Also contributing books and films and music which I’ve enjoyed - this platform is all about sharing after all. In life, as with everything, you get back what you put in.
Giving value and being a thought-leader is fundamental – doing this with personal tales makes you instantly relatable and is what it’s all about.
I tend to jot thoughts down in a notebook whilst travelling, which helps produce themes on what to write in my posts. Travelling brings out my creative side, and new surroundings prompt all kinds of new ideas and inspiration.
Slider posts/Carousel posts remain ever popular and are ideal for calls to action – I use them a lot.

?Ring that Bell
Engaging in your audience’s posts is crucial but I’m finding lately I’m getting more reminders in my posts and in my notifications all because I am ringing that bell!
?Data Detox
Just like a spring clean where you dust your wardrobes and chuck out the bits and bobs you no longer need, August is the perfect time for a data cleanse. An opportune time, I find, to look through my network and newsfeed and start unfollowing people I’m no longer interested in. A much-needed ‘refresh’.
?Time to Update and Jazz up your Profile
Talking of’ refresh’, September means the start of a new year for most businesses this side of the globe, so this month makes for the ideal time to get your profile up to date, ready and raring to go for the following month. I can’t stress enough how important this is, as your profile is the first impression people have of you and what you’re about, whether it’s to connect with someone or when you post. The key areas to focus on which can make all the difference are your Headline, About section, Recommendations, Endorsements, Banner, Profile photo and Video.
?Let’s Wrap it Up
If you are looking for help with writing content and posts or updating your profile just wish to gain a better understanding of LinkedIn, don’t hesitate to get in touch I have also compiled a great FREE content planner for LinkedIn so do sign up if you would like some ideas for August. I can guide you with writing your profile, amongst many other things, get it ready for September, as well as teach you how to cull those unwanted connections. I have a great monthly members group, which is small and highly bespoke and for a small sum, you’ll have the opportunity to learn some new life skills in a leisurely way.
Until my next newsletter. Stay cool amidst the swelter. Wishing you the perfect summertime everyone!
