St. Paul's Iconic Hamm's Brand Lives On

St. Paul’s historic Hamm Building turned 100 this year on September 12th. As one of the remaining legacies of St. Paul’s prominent brewing family, the building has long been a cultural hub for the city. Its rich history began in 1919 when William Hamm, owner of Hamm’s Brewery, saw an opportunity to expand his empire by financing the development of a new department store in downtown St. Paul. Once completed, the new Hamm Building became a hot spot for commerce and culture.

Now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Hamm Building remains a major attraction in the heart of St. Paul. Its tenants include acclaimed 5-star French bistro Meritage, the Park Square Theatre, the iconic Heimie’s Haberdashery, Landmark Jewelry, the St. Paul Loon, Anthony Scornavacco Antiques, F&B Linens and Sonnen’s Pets. The nostalgia of 1919 is preserved in the building’s ornate terra cotta tiles, contrasting the vibrancy of 2019 present along St. Peter Street.

e10 was proud to work with the Hamm Building team and help celebrate this landmark’s centennial by designing the event logo, posters and banners, researching and coordinating a photographic history walk, and landing three media placements in local news outlets.

Congrats! (They make great beer too!)
