St. Paul's Cathedral Choir

For nearly 900 years, there has been a choir of boys and adult men at London's St. Paul's Cathedral. In 1127, the Bishop of London, founded what was the first choir school. The choir consists of 30 boy treble Choristers, 8 probationers and 12 Vicars Choral - all professional adult singers who sing alto, tenors and bass. St Paul's choir has performed at notable events such as Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer's wedding in 1981, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2012 and Margareth Thatcher's funeral in 2013 Carris Jones, 35, will take up the full-time role in the choir. She is the first time a woman has joined an Anglican London cathedral choir as a full-time member. She will join 3 male counter-tenors in the alto section on 1 September after giving birth to her second child.
