To have one app or many apps? That is the question. ?
As many sports organizations now often incorporate multiple brands under one umbrella, a new question arises: the decision between having a unified app for a seamless user experience or maintaining separate apps for each distinct brand within their portfolio. Stepping up to address this question for our teams, we introduced our Mode Switcher feature a few years back.
With our Mode Switcher, our apps can encompass:
As seen above, our teams have a multitude of options and opportunities to incorporate various types of modes within their apps, ensuring a seamless user experience. One of the trailblazers in utilizing this feature and expanding beyond a single team mode and a single venue mode is the St. Louis Blues, with three associated brands: the St. Louis Blues (the NHL team) and two venues (the Enterprise Center and the Stifel Theatre).
Using our Mode Switcher, the Blues consolidated the fan experience across the three brands, while yet maintaining distinct, brand-centric user journeys ("modes"). This means that fans can use a single app to attend Blues games, to attend concerts at both venues, and to manage their tickets for all events. By switching the mode (a quick drop-down selection in the headline area of the app), the fan can explore unique, brand-centric user journeys. Within each of the modes, the brand identity is maintained, with the bottom navigation-menu, title bar, etc., reflecting the colors of that specific brand. In addition, the fan can personalize their app icon on iOS, to change the app icon to the brand of their choice.?

Effectively, this three-brands-in-one experience means that the Blues don't fragment their audience, don't need to invest in promoting three separate apps, and can simultaneously cross-promote and understand the crossover audience across their three brands.?
