St. Jude is changing the way patients education resources are delivered

When the FY22-27 St. Jude Strategic Plan was created, the institution recognized the opportunity to re-imagine patient education as part of setting the standard for pediatric care and the patient family experience. Our goal is to implement a program that empowers patient families to make well-informed decisions and take an active role in their child’s care and treatment.

That’s why clinical care team members are now prescribing more than 500 education resources through the institution’s new electronic health record (EHR). Through the EHR, prescribers will have insight into what resources patients and families use and find most helpful as they receive care and treatment at St. Jude.

Using their Patient Education Prescription (PEP!) rally approach, the patient education team has made organized stops in different clinical departments and offered care providers in-person training and a step-by-step guide to prescribing these important educational resources.

Outside of St. Jude, a variety of educational resources are also available to the general public through the Together by St. Jude? web-based resource.
