My little sister Mo' is the best. Even though she didn't go to Fordham she knows about this dog-and-pony show I'm running and she looks around for old photos for us.

Eugene L. Armbruste:
Bronx: St. John's Hall, on the grounds of Fordham University, between Bronx Park and Pelham Avenue, east of the railroad tracks, 1898.
Eugene L. Armbruster photograph collection, 1894-1939

I'm interested in those RR tracks. They must be the ones that stop by the campus and are currently used by the Harlem Line (Brewster) and the New Haven Line (Connecticut) on their way to Grand Central Terminal. Therefore, the photographer must have placed his camera along Webster Avenue for this shot.

Note:?I heard back from Michael Wares-Assistant Director for Technical Services at Fordham who supplied the 2nd photo: "I hadn't seen that picture before. I'm curious about the fence running away from the fence that borders the tracks - what is it separating on campus? Farm animals?

It looks as if the photograph was taken from just south of the current 195th Street and Webster."

The red line is Mr Wares estimate of where this photo was taken. Wow, look how much more development there is on campus now.
