St John's Bulletin: Celebrating 850 years

A note from our Chief Exec, David Hobdey:

Throughout our history, St John’s Foundation has stood as a beacon for positive change, upholding our enduring commitment to change lives, for good. It is an honour to be at the helm of a charity that has served the Bath and North East Somerset community for so long. I lead a team of people who are passionate about creating a legacy that sustains the charity overall and delivers work with long-lasting impact.

Trust, kindness, and courage are the guiding principles that have shaped St John’s. These values continue to drive our efforts as we navigate the challenges of today and lay the groundwork for the next 850 years.

We are optimistic for the future. Our next chapter is about extending our work that gives vulnerable children in our community the best start in life and helps adults to age well. It promises that the impact we make today is sustainable and will resonate for generations to come.

Service of Celebration: Changing Lives for 850 years

On the 1st February, in a momentous occasion, we welcomed over 500 guests to Bath Abbey for a service to celebrate our 850th anniversary. We were honoured to have our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, join us for the occasion, making a very special day even more poignant.

Foundation Fund school children meet The Queen

It was fantastic to see the excitement of over 800 primary school children as they eagerly waited to see Her Majesty, The Queen make her way into Bath Abbey for our 850th Service of Celebration. The children’s enthusiasm made this such an unforgettable occasion and we were so happy our schools could join us.?

Her Majesty meets our almshouse residents?

We were honoured to welcome Her Majesty, The Queen to our city centre almshouses last week. Her Majesty met with 15 residents in our Chapel to share tea and cake. Her Majesty has served as Patron of St John’s Foundation since 2009, and we take immense pride in continuing our vital work with her support.
