St. Charles 2017 Year in Review…It’s Happening AND Happened here!

2017 once again proved to be a banner year for economic growth in the City of St. Charles. Our deliberate and strategic growth model, focused on key metrics once again demonstrated our Economic Development Department is fulfilling its plan of attack and success.

Here are just a few items to demonstrate our value proposition.

• Celebrated completion of the Sysco Foods expansion 
• Opened the new SSM Health Outpatient Center
• Met with 6 Canadian industries looking to expand in the United States
• Held ground breaking and/or ribbon cutting events at Streets of St. Charles, Fountain Lakes Commerce Center, University Commons and throughout St. Charles  
• Initiated an aggressive business recruitment strategy with full implementation planned in 2018
• Conducted 1,000 business touches to remain close to our existing industries.
• Hosted our most successful Regional Investors Breakfast event in history
• Held two success Illinois Workforce Recruitment Programs in Effingham and Bloomington
• Acquired our AEDO Re-accreditation from IEDC
• Hosted a visit by President Trump
• Hosted community open forums for West Clay Triangle redeveloped
• Served as a Session Moderator at IEDC Annual Meeting in Toronto
• Served on two panels for IEDC webinars
• Hosted MO Department of Economic Development International Representatives at two St. Charles industries.
• Expanded our social media reach through Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
• Increased our presence at ICSC
•  Hosted the July meeting of the Hawthorn Foundation
• Promoted the Missouri Department of Economic Development & Missouri Partnership

The successes St. Charles experienced in 2017 resulted from a strong working relationship with industries, brokers, site locators and allies. In addition, we have a focused plan to differentiate our community.
