[China 02] Visit to Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu

My second visit to ??China occurred in October 2023, hosted by Southwest Jiaotong in Chengdu ??. The visit is part of our collaboration project on ??? phase-change materials and the creation of the?? experimental setting. Two weeks full of meetings, workshops, ?? lectures and quality exchange resulted in initiating two new projects that will be announced next year in collaboration with IEA Task 43 on building mass for storage.

China is ?? thriving and growing fast in the sector of ?? energy storage. The Central Government and the Province of Sichuan have clear plans to ? advance science in the energy of building energy storage and ??? thermal comfort. In our project, the use of ?? paraffin wax alternatives and encapsulation was explored through several of our common publications. In 2024, we will terminate our first project on PCM use in ?? buildings. Between 2024 and 2028, we will endeavor a new project on nano-induced PCM mixes with a focus on coupling PCM to renewable systems, mainly solar thermal systems. At ULiege, we are in the process of recruiting a new ???????? Ph.D. student to create and transfer knowledge between Chinese partners and ???? Belgium. Our research methodology will be mainly ?? experimental, followed by ??? modeling work. We will seek to investigate the application of PCM in Belgian residential buildings. We also announce a call for master's ???????? students already enrolled at ULiege.
