This position is responsible for performing and coordinating the accounting for the Company’s sales commissions. This position will report to the Accounting Manager and will function as a segment of?our accounting team.?The?role demands inter-departmental partnership with the Company’s international accounting, Sales Operations, and FPA teams.??

This position provides an opportunity to take ownership of one of the Company’s more complex accounting?and operational processes. Recent changes in accounting guidance focused on sales commissions provide the chance for immediate impact. Broader experience is also accessible through the understanding of the Company’s various sales plans and sales organization structure through collaboration with our Sales Operations team. The position will provide experience with some of our accounting and budgeting software tools such as IBM Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) and Salesforce. Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain process flow documents across all business locations for accounting for sales commissions through collaboration with multiple Company departments including IT, Sales Operations, Legal and Finance.
- Apply sound professional judgement to understand and identify process risks and their potential impact on financial statement line items.?
- Design and implement SOX controls to address material risks related to all relevant management assertions surrounding the process.
- Calculate and book monthly and quarterly commission accruals ensuring the entries are accurately calculated and appropriately supported.?
- Calculate and record deferred commission assets related to acquired contracts. Manage schedules and subsequent amortization of such assets.?
- Summarize and present monthly and quarterly accrual results to the international accounting teams, the Corporate Controller, and Finance.?
- Coordinate with Sales Operations and Finance to ensure completeness of data used to calculate sales commission earnings, accruals, and deferred cost assets.?
- Administer quarterly sales plan approvals for the entire sales team to support the accuracy of sales plan data.?
- Perform monthly reconciliations to support the completeness and accuracy of commission liability and asset balances.?
- Process monthly commission payments and review for accuracy by utilizing criteria to identify specific individuals and sales plans that are at greater risk of error; submit results to payroll for processing.?
- Work with Sales Operations and IT to test updates and changes to ICM software. This includes identifying all risks associated with the change and designing procedures and controls to address these risks.?
- Work with Sales Operations and Finance to understand sales commission plans and commission plan changes to identify impacts on current accounting processes in consideration of workload, efficiency, and current accounting guidance.
- Prepare audit deliverables on a timely basis and participate in process walkthroughs with both internal and external auditors clearly communicating process risks and controls.?
- Provide valuable insight for continuous improvement of company processes.?
- Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Strong skills in Excel/Microsoft Office required. Experience with Oracle eBS, Blackline, SalesForce, or IBM Incentive Compensation Management a plus.?
- Strong planning and organization abilities; can multi-task effectively and front loads work to meet key close deadlines.
- Flexible and open to new ideas and processes.
- Ability to make sound judgments or solve problems independently, knowing when to bring situations to the attention of management.
- Flexible with overtime, if necessary, during the quarter-end and year-end close and reporting cycle.
- B.A./B.S. degree required in Accounting, or Finance
- CPA a plus
- An ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of total relevant-accounting experience working in public or private accounting positions. Big 4 public accounting is highly preferred.
- Experience with Oracle EBS or a related ERP system preferred
- Familiarity with ASC 340-40 Other Assets and Deferred Costs

- Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.?Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
- Work-from-home arrangements are available.?
- Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
